Who We Are

The African Development Association for Progress (ADAP) is a recognised UK charitable body (registered Charity Number: 1125307) founded in 2007 with the aim of enhancing the development of people of African Descent. The organisation was formed due to the need to support our institutions both in the UK and on the African continent, due to the negative effects of the Brain Drain that has seen thousands of highly skilled personnel leave the continent in search of other opportunities.

The organisation consists of 3 main departments from which we run our programmes.

__________• Health
__________• Secure Livelihood
__________• Education/Youth Development

The ability of volunteers to work willingly together for the betterment of themselves, and their community is invaluable to ADAPs core aims and objectives.

ADAP's aim is to create greater networks, growth and sustainability amongst people of African descent, who are willing to contribute their much needed skills, experience and resources through volunteering in various projects and programmes run in the UK and Africa.

When we refer to the term 'African' or people of 'African descent,' we are making reference to people whose lineage originates from the African continent, which also includes people from the Caribbean, Europe, North and South & Latin America.

All sorts of people volunteer for many different reasons, but one thing that unites them all is that they find it challenging, rewarding and varied. ADAP volunteering provides an opportunity to learn new skills and to develop existing ones. With so many different volunteering opportunities on offer, there's bound to be something for everyone.
